"4 things you should never have low standards about:
1. Men 2. Shoes 3. Coffee 4. Skin Care."
The importance of skincare is something I am recently learning. Well, maybe I should say that I've always KNOWN the importance, I just never understood the extent.
As I continue to visit Face to Face Spa, I continue learning about my skin. If you watched my vlog on youtube, then you will know that I was/still am such an amateur when it comes to skin care. I thought I was taking all of the right steps and precautions when it came to caring for my skin, key word....THOUGHT.
One thing that I can definitely say I have walked away with, is the importance of recovery. Just like physical exercise, recovering from a workout is almost just as, if not more, important than the workout itself. Putting time and effort into stretching, nurturing, and caring for your muscles in between workouts is essential for growth and strengthening. Skin care is the exact same way. The products and time you put into your skin to nurture it in between facials, peels, and washes is crucial for the growth and strengthening of new skin cells.
In this post, I am talking about two products that are essential for cell recovery. For the past two months, I have been getting chemical peels and facials every two weeks. My face is pretty much in the mode of "out with the old, in with the new." Now that the old, dry skin has been worked on and the new, soft, and smooth skin is coming through, it is important that I do what I can to aid in that process and not cause further damage.
Skin Ceuticals: Phloretin CF (aka, vitamin C).
Vitamin C or Retinol? Great Question!
Retinol is something all of us ladies gravitate toward. We see it and hear it all over the place. Anti-aging? You're never to young to start, right?
Let me give you some background/personal information. I am a mommy to the most precious 15 (almost 16 month old, wow...no way....is she really that old?....anyway...) in the entire world. She is the sweetest, kindest, most loving little girl I know. SO loving, that we are still successfully breastfeeding. With that being said, it is important that I am educated and aware of what chemicals are going onto/into my skin.
When we started talking about the recovery process, retinol was out of the picture for me. However, I still wanted something to lighten, brighten, and tighten my newly rejuvenated skin. Thank goodness for my amateur self, I have an esthetician who can work with my skin and choices in my personal life to still give me the best results. She suggested I try these vitamin C drops since I am unable to try retinol.
Ya'll. These drops are the bee's knees. THEY SMELL LIKE COFFEE. In the most magical way ever. After washing and drying your face in the morning, 5 drops is all you need. It is NOT greasy AT all and soaks beautifully into the skin. After I apply this vitamin C, I apply the SPF (down below), a primer, and move on to my make up. My make up has never looked as flawless as is does after using these drops. Even my husband has noticed!
Elta MD: Moisturizing Facial Sunscreen SPF 40
One word, Sunscreen.
You hear about it all the time, but do you REALLY know how important it is? I didn't. I just blew it off and thought "eh, I'll be alright." Since I am in an office all day I never really took sunscreen seriously. My commute from work to home is about 10 minutes, so how much damage could my skin really be getting in that short amount of time? Well, did you know that your skin can actually be getting damaged from the lights INSIDE YOUR OFFICE? I am in my office for 9+ hours and all this time I thought my skin was SAFE. WRONGO!
After receiving a Lactic Peel and Jessner Peel, my skin was in need of some intense TLC. I started using this SPF to protect my skin throughout its recovery period. As my skin started to peel, the new skin underneath was pink and tender. Not in a painful way, but in a smooth as a baby's bottom kind of way:). I wanted to do everything I could to keep that skin from getting damaged.
My favorite thing about this Moisturizing Facial Sunscreen is how creamy and non-oily it is. This stuff literally goes on and feels like moisturizer, one pump is all you need! It is sheer, lightweight, and paraben free. Did I mention it is also safe to use on little ones?
If you are in the market for an affordable SPF that is free of chemicals and doesn't leave you smelling and looking like a Bahama Mama all year round, this is the stuff for you! You can also get this bad boy tented or in a spray for quicker application.
Thank you guys for stopping by and checking out these amazing skin care products! Stay tuned for more in the near future!
